It was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 19, 1989 and was officially launched on October 12, 1989. On September 4, 2009, Philippines First Insurance Company, Inc. (PhilFirst Insurance), Systems Technology Institute, Inc. (STI), and The Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company (Philamlife) entered into a Share Sale Agreement for PhilFirst and STI to acquire all the shares of Philam Plans.
Now, under its new ownership, PhilPlans has renewed its commitment to help secure the future of Filipinos everywhere. It continues to dominate the market with its comprehensive product portfolio, management expertise and sound financial practices.
PhilPlans' pre-need liabilities are adequately covered by its huge, fast-growing and highly-liquid Trust Fund of over Php30 Billion, the largest in the pre-need industry and much more than sufficient to fulfill its promises to its more than 300,000 Planholders for many years to come. The bulk of its Trust Fund continues to be in liquid assets, such as government securities, with less than 4% in real estate and in blue-chip equities.
PhilPlans' Capitalization stands at Php700 Million in Paid-Up Capital - seven times the minimum regulatory requirement for pre-need companies in the Philippines. The Company continues to distribute its innovative and value-added products and services through its nationwide Agency Force of over 3,000 Sales Associates across over 50 branch locations.
