This role is tasked to manage, direct, and oversee planned activities to construct roads, drainage, slope protections, and other related civil road works and maintenance projects across SMI’s area of operation.
Key responsibilities :
•Manage activities related to the construction and maintenance of roads, drainage structures, slope protection, and other related works to ensure completion in accordance with agreed budget and time specifications.
•Responsible for engineering plans, designs, and cost estimations for road works construction and maintenance.
•Ensure timely and accurate preparation of project details, such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
•Liaise with internal units and contractors regarding construction programmes of civil works relating to roads, drainage, slope protections, and maintenance across the Project Area.
•Overall control of requisition for materials, equipment, and services to ensure operational requirements of the civil road construction and maintenance projects are met.
•Ensure updating of schedule and preparatory activities are undertaken to avoid operational delays.
•Monitor daily civil works operations, progress, and performance against targeted milestones.
•Implement controls, monitoring, and coordination to manage and sustain ongoing compliance with relevant internal, regulatory and legislative instruments.
Key requirements :
•Licensed Civil Engineer
•At least eight (8) years continuous experience in the supervision of road construction and drainage structures, surveying, heavy equipment utilization, and progress monitoring
•Well-versed with field survey activities, establishment of horizontal and vertical controls, and quantity surveying for earthworks and others
•Strong health, safety, and environmental management orientation
•Familiar with contractor management processes
•Effective communication, interpersonal, coordination, and project management skills
•Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications and other engineering software
