This role is tasked to ensure that mechanisms and systems are in place in the administration and maintenance of social contracts with municipal and barangay local government units (LGUs) and the tribal communities within the mine development area. This role is temporary for a period of 2 years.
Key responsibilities :
• Oversee the completion of requirements necessary for the forging of social contracts and agreements with SMI’s external partners.
• Monitor contracting parties’ compliance with stipulated commitments and obligations as embodied in the active Principal Agreements.
• Facilitate the creation / activation of Oversight Committees as required in the Municipal Principal Agreements with concerned local government units.
• Work closely with concerned local government units and public agencies for the activation and organization of partner-committees to oversee compensation issues on land use, crop inventory and damages, and resettlement.
• Provide technical assistance to the review of SMI’s Principal Agreements and Memoranda of Agreements (MoAs) with its host tribal communities, barangays, and municipalities.
• Ensure that a conducive environment is developed and sustained to facilitate the forging of new agreements with additional tribal communities and local government units as required by the Project.
Key requirements :
• Preferably with a degree in law, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, or other human relations, social sciences, and community development-related discipline
• At least 3 years experience in office work, negotiation, and conflict management; prior supervisory experience is an advantage
• Extensive engagement and advocacy works with government, civil society, people’s organization, and rural communities
• Demonstrated skills in organizing, planning, negotiation, communication, and advocacy with established civic, business, and government networks
