POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Manila R&D Director is responsible for overseeing the strategic and technology direction of the R&D Center located in Manila, Philippines. This senior managerial and technical position:
- manages in Manila the R&D teams of the MPL Product Line
- drives the development of existing and new products for the Mobile Solutions portfolio
- leads the innovation of new technologies around servers based Solution and Services to satisfy the business needs driven by the Mobile Solutions Design team from abroad
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
University degree in the field of computer science or another rigorous discipline.
Possess proven full life-cycle experience in complex technology research and product development (preferably in network technologies and systems architectures that have been commercially released for array of broad product line and offerings).
Solid understanding and vision of IP core network, broadband access network and background of systems architecture as a plus.
Must have 5 to 10 years of software design experience.
Lead and manage the time-to-market of products and speed up response time to market demands.
Must possess diverse leadership skills, be cultural aware and have a solid understanding of international business and industry trends in Smart Cards, TelCo and Computer Science Industries.
Successfully lead and manage other high potential leaders (Senior Managers and experts) and associated staff and engineers.
Capable of building and developing a world-class R&D team.
Excellent project management skills: capable of ensuring multiple projects stay on-track and are delivered under budget, including internal resource planning and scheduling.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with executive management, non-engineers and engineers.
Possess the leadership and management skills to bring structure, discipline and process to a R&D environment, while retaining the ability to work in an ever changing environment.
5 to 8+ years in any R&D Director Position.
Demonstrated ability to envision Smart Card based services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems.
Familiar with software development methodology.
Ability to discern user requirements and develop specifications.
Familiar with IT programs using JAVA, Visual Basic, UNIX & Windows systems, C, C++, Java, JSP, HTML, Corba, knowledge of Object Oriented Design, Oracle DBMS
Exposure to business theory, business process development, governance processes, management, budgeting, and administrative operations.
