  • Responsibilities:

    Key Result #1: Program Development, Quality & Implementation (30 % of time)

    1. Enhance program design in child-protection and gender, and apply strategies to develop and implement relevant and innovative projects;

    2. Review activity designs and incorporate minimum standards and good practices for development and humanitarian settings;

    3. Develop/co-create contextualized FH Sector Quality standard checklist

    4. Strengthen technical excellence of Team in child-protection and gender through capacity-building activities like training, facilitation of learning/brownbag sessions, mentoring and coaching, etc.;

    5. Contribute to building CO program portfolio, targeting external funding from institutional, corporate, and private donors in coordination with Partnership Development & Advocacy Unit;

    6. Forge partnerships with government agencies, non-government organizations, or individuals for technical and/or financial support to protection-related projects

    7. Act as the functional supervisor to the sector leads in the Area Programs

    8. Provide technical review of project reports and advocacy materials in child protection and gender;

    Key Result #2: Safeguarding Focal Person for Child Safeguarding Policy (20% of the time)

    1. Provide input to and support the implementation of the Safeguarding Policy;

    2. Review and contextualize Safeguarding Policy documents, as needed, ensuring that it adequately meets the CO needs while remaining compliant with global standards;

    3. Design and develop activities/ training required for the implementation of the Safeguarding Policy.

    4. Lead the CO Safeguarding Committee and liaise with SLT and GSC Safeguarding Lead;

    5. Support and advise the Safeguarding Committee during case management and administrative investigations, when and if requested by the GSC Safeguarding Lead;

    6. Head the collection and safekeeping of information on Safeguarding implementation activities and document best practices;

    7. Collaborate with the SLT and CO Safety & Security Committee to assess safeguarding risks and develop appropriate mitigating measures;

    8. Conduct Safeguarding briefings, inductions, and/or workshops to staff, managers, and associates ensuring all are aware of what is Safeguarding and how to execute their respective responsibilities under the Policy.

    9. Deliver ongoing refresher training and induction as necessary.

    Key Result #3: Technical Monitoring, Accountability & Learning (20 % of the time)

    1. Conduct network meetings for consultation, share learning on child protection & gender;

    2. Conduct field visits to provide direct and immediate assistance to area offices; track program soundness and progress

    3. Validate technical reports to ensure compliance to protection-related mechanisms, policies, and procedures

    4. Evaluate protection program/project inputs and output for input to next planning session

    5. Ensure that program quality and performance indicators are achieved in the project implementation

    Key Result #4: Strengthen expertise in child protection in emergencies and gender based

    violence in emergencies(20% of the time)

    1. Contribute to the development of CPiE and GBViE projects;

    2. Provide capacity building for staff and partners in CPiE and GBViE ;

    3. Contribute to data gathering, validation, and coordination with the assessment team;

    4. Provide technical input in the Emergency Response Plan;

    5. Act as the focal person in CPiE and GBViE for the Emergency Response Team

    Key Result #5: Staff management and development (10% of the time)

    1. Models leadership to all staff and intentionally develops the leadership potential of key staff in the FH field by walking closely with the senior leadership team, and coaching and mentoring key direct reports;

    2. Identify technical competency gaps of project staff and partners on protection program and management; recommend interventions to close the gaps;

    3. Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of staff;

    4. Disseminate best practices and updates on child protection and gender;

    Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelors’ Degree in International Development, Social Sciences/ Social Work, or any related field. Graduates of other courses may be considered if he/ she has the experience and competency requirements of the post. A Masters' Degree would be an advantage.

    Experience: With at least 10 years experience in conceptualization, design, development, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of projects in development organizations (consecutive experience is preferred,); Experience working in projects related to ending poverty and child rights-based programming is necessary. Strong background in child protection and gender-related projects, preferably funded by a diverse set of funding institutions.

    Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
