  • JOB DESCRIPTION – AREA MANAGER

    Reports to: Head of Operations, Business Unit Head

    Role Purpose
    Manage and assume overall responsibility for directing all operational aspects of each store and driving sales.

    Key Accountabilities

    1. Business Strategy
    • Create business strategy per store inclusive of forecasting sales that reflect both store trend and incorporate calculated risks to generate sales growth.
    • Identify, create and manage the execution of store business plan that drives key performance indicator results and that maximize business opportunities.
    • Monitor sales performance of the branch/es by coordinating with Store Managers.
    • Identify underperforming stores and develop a business plan to address and manage issues effectively.
    • Direct the preparation of the annual action plans and operating budget

    2. Stock Management
    • Achieve stock control targets in line with company guidelines to prevent financial loss.
    • Communicate with the Merchandising team regarding the supply of stock in the Area to maximize stock potential.
    • Oversee an adequate merchandise supplies and stocks inventories.

    3. Customer Engagement
    • Support the management of customer service activities and staff competence to optimise and sustain sales performance and customer satisfaction.
    • Clearly and concisely communicate business and store objectives to Store Managers so that they remain well informed of business activity and of their required contribution to targets.
    • Implement safety and security control measures in consonance with corporate standards which include safety of employees; safety of customers/visitors/etc.; security against merchandise loss/damage/pilferage; and fire prevention of the building.
    • Ascertain customer satisfaction and continued patronage through efficient performance of customer service function to include gift wrapping, packing and/or telephone/paging.

    4. Store Operations
    • Ensure that all stores adhere to compliance requirements in all areas of operational activity, company policies and procedures.
    • Develop internal control systems and processes that will minimize and/or eliminate operation lapses.
    • Responsible for the compliance of collections (Accounts Receivables Cash on Deliveries).
    • Ensure consistent attainment of sales quotas/targets.

    5. People Management
    • Evaluate staff’s performance and production. Recommend promotion, merit increase, incentives based on the establishment norms and procedures.
    • Coordinate with HR in developing hiring plan to meet specific needs of business and store, including a diverse applicant pool.
    • Develop succession plans to ensure career paths for all employees. Encourage employees to pursue internal opportunities.
    • Facilitate and cascade communication across the store organization and act as coordinator to top management.
    • Train and develop team on business expertise to drive business performance.
