  • The Financial Controller’s mainly responsibilities are (1) to provide financial analysis that helps the executive management make informed decisions for the Company’s financial well-being; and (2) ensure that GIDC’s resources are well managed by providing data and analysis needed for financial planning.

    The Financial Controller is also expected to establish and oversee the implementation of internal and external controls over the GIDC Group’s financial procedures including accounting, finance, and credit & collections.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Financial Planning and Analysis
    1. Provide accurate and comprehensive data and analysis to the executive management that will help them come up with financial plans, strategies, and decisions.
    2. Conduct annual financial review of the GIDC Group with the different business units to determine performance for the previous fiscal year.
    3. Prepare the annual budget of the GIDC Group with the help of the Assistant Financial Controller and Credit & Collection Manager.

    Financial Reporting
    1. Review and analyze the monthly financial statements of the GIDC Group consolidated by the Assistant Financial Controller.
    2. Present the monthly financial statements and analyses of the GIDC Group in the monthly board meeting.
    3. Attend monthly pre- and post-board meeting to discuss action items.

    Internal Controls and Compliance
    1. Establish and oversee the implementation of internal controls over the GIDC Group’s financial procedures including accounting, finance, credit & collection.

    Controllership
    1. Review and approve all check vouchers prior to check preparation; ensuring that these are valid transactions and within budget.
    2. Endorse all approved check vouchers to Credit & Collection Department for check preparation.

    Performance Standards

    Key Results Area Key Performance Indicators
    Financial Analysis Recommend cost-saving or revenue generating initiatives to the BOD for approval
    Budget Preparation Ensure the budget for the GIDC Group is prepared and approved by the BOD in a timely manner
    Financial Reporting Monthly FS is accurate and reported in the monthly Board Meeting
    Internal Controls & Compliance Recommend best practice and process improvement for GIDC Group’s financial procedures
    Controllership Ensure that all financial transactions are valid

    Job Specification

    Education: Preferably Certified Public Accountant, and with MBA but not required.

    Experience/Training: At least 10 years of relevant experience in controllership and financial management; at least five (5) years working in a supervisory capacity. With diverse industry experience.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Knowledgeable in operation and financial analyses
    • Knowledgeable in budgeting and budget preparation
    • Knowledgeable in credit management
    • Extensive knowledge in tax planning and regulatory compliances
    • Extensive knowledge in generally accepted accounting principles
    • High proficiency in accounting and enterprise resource planning systems roll-out and implementation
    • Highly proficient in using MS Excel
    • Detail-oriented and highly analytic
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Possess excellent management and leadership skills
