FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Information /Admitting Staff process requests for inpatient admissions entertains clients and conducts interviews with the incoming patients prior to admission and collects patient’s data.
1. Assisting departments in relaying messages and communications thru the telephone paging system/public address system.
2. Responsible in answering incoming and outgoing calls from different departments.
3. Responsible in entertaining questions and queries from incoming patients.
4. Responsible in locating and informing needed personnel thru paging.
5. Explains rates, charges, services, discounts and hospital policy.
6. Prepare and submit reports as requested.
7. Responsible and authorize in receiving mails and packages for the hospital.
8. Providing efficient and effective service to meeting patient’s needs.
9. Attends and participates in meetings and seminars.
10. Entertaining inquiries regarding hospital facilities and room charges.
11. Gather information by interviewing incoming patients prior to admission and collects insurance, emergency information and other data required to bring the patient into the hospital system.
12. Explaining different rates, charges, services and discounts and hospital policy to the patient and patient’s relatives.
13. Accepts reservations for rooms, assigning beds according to medical needs and census
count.
14. Encodes and records admissions and discharges.
15. Encodes patient’s information into computer and routes printed copy to designated departments.
16. Orients patients on hospital policies and procedures and patients right and responsibilities.
17. Assigns bed according to the patient’s medical needs.
18. Performs the tasks of the HMO in informing health card companies of their admissions. (In the absence of HMO clerk)
19. Comply with the hospital and department’s protocols, policies and standard operating procedures.
20. Prepare and submit reports as requested.
21. Attends and participates in meetings and seminars.
