Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide patient care for patients receiving external beam radiation and brachytherapy.
2. Provide patient and family education related to treatment and side effects.
3. Perform nursing assessment and triage regarding patients’ health concerns, treatment, diagnostic tests, medications, side effect and prioritized patient care needs.
4. Conduct initial comprehensive nurse assessment, lab draws, select diagnosis code, as well as develop, implement and provide patient education for the process of radiation treatment and interventional/diagnostic procedures, specific to each patient's diagnosis.
5. Perform follow-up/weekly on-treatment visits for patients under external beam radiation, brachytherapy (involving anesthesia/sedation), CT simulation and monitor/notify the physician of adverse effects, re-development of processes and on-set of worsening symptoms.
6. Prep the procedure room with necessary instruments and autoclave all instruments used post-procedure.
7. Train and guide other nursing and support staff, trainees, OJTs engaged in clinical activities (when required).
8. Explain the Patient Consent Form (PCF) to and obtain signature of the patient relative who serves as witness to the patient receiving treatment.
9. Administration of conscious sedation
10. Administration of high-dose prostate implants
11. Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse (RN)
2. Experience as a Radiation Oncology Nurse (preferred but not required)
3. Knowledge on Radiation oncology treatment procedures, facilities and equipment.
4. With IV Therapy Training and Basic Life Support Training Certification
5. Newly licensed Nurse are encourage to apply.
Work Location: Bay, Laguna (with staff house provision)
