Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

Job Description:

• Implement, review, test, deliver & monitor new features.
• Proactively identify & resolve maintenance issues and bugs.
• Refactor existing code and reduce tech debt.
• Review other team members’ code.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or any related.
• Has 5+ years of experience in software/web development.
• Demonstrable experience in Ruby, Rails and Javascript.
• Familiarity with tech stack (AWS, Postgres, Ruby on Rails, Typescript, GitHub).
• Experience building for the web (ideally at scale - we have 500k daily users).
• Attention to detail in all aspects of work.
• Proactive and self-motivated.
• Able to work relatively independently from ‘feature concept’ through ‘implementation’ to ‘monitoring feature
use in production’.
• Willing to ask for support and accept guidance from teammates and other stakeholders.
• Willing to provide support and guidance to other teammates and other stakeholders.
• Has a desire to create elegant functional code that not only works well and is easy to maintain but takes into
account the context of the project as a whole.
• Ability to give and take constructive criticism with an aim to improve the code.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

Notes:

• Responsibilities do not include any on-call out-of-hours work.
• The dev team has a video catch-up with the team every week (as a minimum), but additional support is available
via video of MatterMost forum. Otherwise, the working style is asynchronous.
