  • Job Summary

    The Staff Nurse is responsible in performing professional nursing care in accordance to the standard nursing procedure and medical direction. Also assumes the responsibilities in the improvement of the unit assigned and the Nursing Service.

    Functions

    A. Clinical functions PATIENT SAFETY

    1. Assumes responsibility for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care.

    2. Orients newly admitted patients and relatives on the unit.

    3. Assists patients in moving and maintaining proper alignment of patient’s body.

    4. Carries out doctor’s legal order and assists physicians when examining patients.

    5. Secures consent and waiver for the intended procedures to be done after has been explained by the Physician

    6. Helps nursing assistants in maintaining the cleanliness of the area.

    MEDICATION MANAGEMENT/ TREATMENT CONCERNS

    1. Performs various nursing procedure such as IV insertion, NGT insertion, irrigations, Foley catheterization and enemas.

    2. Administers medication safely and document patient’s response to medication.

    3. Gives health teaching to patient and his/ her significant others

    4. Attends and act on an emergency situation.

    5. Ensure patient safety at all times

    6. Instructs home medication and follow-up schedule to OPD or to their respective attending physician.

    7. Performs post mortem care and spiritual care

    COMMUNICATION/ ENDORSEMENT

    1. Receives endorsement from the outgoing nurse and provides patients with direct nursing care.

    2. Admission, transfer and discharges the patients.

    3. Reports observation to the physician regarding patients’ response to care.

    4. Coordinates with other hospital and other concerned units regarding transfer of patients to another facility.

    PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

    1. Attends professional development trainings at least twice a year, preferably about patient safety and infection control

    2. Conduct nursing case presentation at least twice per annum and discuss nursing journal updates in each monthly unit meetings.

    B. Clerical Functions

    1. Make necessary charges for stock and supplies used and procedure done

    2. Accomplish consent form and secure HMO approval for clients procedure when necessary

    3. Check E-Kit for completeness and accomplish daily inventory checklist.

    Job Qualifications:

    Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's/College Degree, Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Exam), Nursing or equivalent.

    At least 1 Year(s) of working experience specializing in Healthcare - Nurse/Medical Support & Assistant or equivalent.
