Tax Accountant

Job Description:

• Help manage the business and personal tax area of the practice

• Prepare and submit both business and personal income tax returns (for business owners)

• Prepare and submit business property tax returns

• Prepare business and personal quarterly income tax estimates.

• Assemble accounting data and financial statements to support preparation of tax returns.

• Assist with tax planning for clients.

• Help maintain fixed asset lists using fixed asset software.

• Create adjusting journal entries.

• Research local, state, and federal tax regulations.

• Research and resolve government correspondence and assessments.

• Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Payroll and other Staff.

• Additional special projects and research driven by business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any related field

• At least 7 years of experience in preparing business tax returns, multi-company general ledger, and accounting especially accrual based

• CPA or EA (Enrolled Agent) is required

• Excellent working knowledge of Excel is required

• Exposure to tax in multiple states is preferred - state and local business taxes including property, personal, Sub S, and partnerships

• Some knowledge of fixed asset tax treatment and policies is preferred

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and high integrity

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work along with internal and external partners

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Experience preparing personal income tax returns is preferred

• Experience with accounting write-up packages like Accounting CS preferred

• Ultra-Tax CS tax software preferred

• Extremely personable, highly organized, forward thinking, and motivated individual

• Quick service restaurant industry experience is a plus
